Sunday Preview & Thought for the Week (5.13.16)

Hey Church!

I hope you've had a great week!  I am glad to be back in town and ready for a great Sunday of worship.  Last week, James shared about the Gwinnett Campus.  This week, we'll be in week three of the Legacy Campaign and I'll be sharing more details about where God is leading us at Harmony Grove, The Commons and the incredible opportunity we have to reach our community.  Can't wait to see you there!

Thought for the Week
"He will renew your life."  Ruth 4:5

I readily admit that I'm kind of an HGTV junkie.  I like building stuff, painting stuff and fixing stuff up.  As is popular now, I'm starting to like seeing old stuff re-purposed.  Whether it's reclaimed wood or old furniture or antiques.  Old is making a comeback!  A little paint or poly, some sanding and staining or just some cleaning can do wonders for something old.  And the nicks and knocks just add character.  There's something cool about seeing something renewed.  However, some people just can't see it.  They can't look at an old piece of furniture and see what it could be.  Most of us are this way with our lives.  We just can't see it.  We can't imagine that God could clean us up and give us a fresh coat.  We can't envision what we could be.  So we relegate ourselves to being dusty and beat up.  We settle for a life dirtied and weathered by our mistakes and past.  You know, God sees something in you.  God has a picture of what you could be if you'd let him get to work on you.  There might be some sanding involved (and it might hurt a little).  There might be some paint required, and you may have some things in your life covered up that you're not ready to let go of.  You might need shining up a little.  But he wants to build something beautiful out of you.  Don't worry about cracks and dents.  They'll add character to your story of God's renewal in you.  People will marvel at how beautiful you are.  But you have to let the Master Carpenter get to work.

In Christ,

Carter
